Cystic Fibrosis (CF) research is critical to improving and prolonging the life of CF patients. New medications and treatments are being developed at an awesome pace but in order for these medications to be available to the CF patients at a local pharmacy, they have to be tested and approved by the FDA. And for this reason, we, as CF patients, need to do our part to make this process go faster. We can do this by asking our CF doctors to participate in CF research. Your CF doctors should be aware of all the new medications and treatments in trials or they can research them for you. Participating in these studies, if you qualify, will not only make you feel like you are contributing to the cure for CF, but some might actually put a little bit of cash in your wallet as most studies compensate for the visits. All research studies are paid for by the researchers so you do not have to pay for any medications, visits or tests. And you will be monitored closely while you are on the medications in case there are any side-effects. Personally, I have been participating in research studies for the past five years and I have had a great experience with all the studies. It has made me feel like I am contributing to the cure to save the lives of thousands of children and adults with CF. If we all take one small step to further research for Cystic Fibrosis, we will surely reach our ultimate goal of beating this chronic disease once and for all. Go ahead, pick up the phone and call your CF doctor today. Here are some clinical trials going on right now:
