Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
In this memoir, Mitch Albom shares how his favorite teacher, Professor Morrie Schwartz, taught and inspired him to enjoy every moment of life—from one’s birth to one’s death. As Morrie becomes physically weak with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and inescapably comes near to dying, he teaches Albom one of the most important lessons in life. Albom spends a short time of only fourteen Tuesdays with Morrie, but he creates an enlightening chronicle where every page is filled with Morrie’s delightful humor, profound advice, and thought-provoking words of wisdom. Morrie is a true “teacher to the last” (134) who has the power to motivate others, and his every word gives inspiration to all. Morrie says, “The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning” (43). Albom sincerely portrays Morrie in his last months, and his memoir reminds us all that a meaningful life is a fulfilling, rich, and joyful life.Happy reading!
